Tawakkol Karman Dismisses Calls for Hadi’s Return, Holds Him Responsible for Yemen’s Collapse
Nobel Peace Prize laureate and prominent human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has firmly rejected recent calls for the return of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, holding him responsible for the political and military deterioration that has engulfed the country.
In a statement published on her official Facebook page, Karman dismissed the demands for Hadi’s reinstatement, asserting that many of the current political and military failures in Yemen stem from appointments and decisions made during his presidency.
Karman also pointed out that the figures now calling for Hadi’s return belong to the same political network of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh — a network widely viewed by Yemenis as having facilitated the Houthi militia’s takeover and the handover of state institutions, owing to the influence Saleh exercised over three decades in power.
