Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman has condemned U.S. military actions against civilians in Yemen, asserting that attacks on markets and civilian infrastructure amount to crimes against humanity and war crimes.
In a post on her official Facebook page, Karman denounced the bombing of the al-Farwa market in the capital, Sana'a, as well as the destruction of the Ras Issa oil port in al-Hodaidah, both of which resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians.
Karman expressed her unequivocal rejection of any aerial bombardment or foreign intervention in Yemen under any pretext, calling for an immediate end to these assaults and urging respect for national sovereignty.
She emphasized that the responsibility for overthrowing the Houthi coup and eradicating the Houthi threat rests solely with the Yemeni people. Karman urged those wishing to assist Yemenis to do so without resorting to bombing or direct intervention.
