Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights defender Tawakkol Karman has denounced the arbitrary detention of journalist Hamoud Hazza in Ma’rib, calling the move a grave violation of press freedom and the fundamental right to free expression.

In a statement released on her official Facebook page, Karman expressed full solidarity with Hazza and stressed that his arrest represents a blatant infringement on the independence of the press.

She urged the authorities in Ma’rib to release Hazza without delay and held those responsible for his detention fully accountable for his safety and well-being.
