Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Tawakkol Karman took part in the meeting of the Meta Oversight Board for Facebook and Instagram, held from December 8–10, 2025, in the U.S. capital, Washington, D.C.

The meeting discussed ongoing cases, including the review of public comments and the assessment of Meta’s evolving content policies, particularly recent debates surrounding hate speech definitions and the expansion of the Community Notes feature.

The Oversight Board is an independent body that issues binding decisions on content moderation policies for Facebook and Instagram, and provides recommendations focused on freedom of expression, human rights, and Meta’s Community Standards.
