Sudan Cuts Ties with UAE — Karman Calls It ِ"A Courageous Act of Sovereignty"
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman has voiced her full support for Sudan’s decision to sever diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, describing it as “a courageous sovereign stance that reflects Sudan’s dignity and pride.”
In a post on her official Facebook page, Karman praised Sudan’s move as a defining act of national will in the face of foreign interference. “Great Sudan confirms the severing of relations with the rogue statelet of the UAE, which has used its surplus wealth to plunge our countries into ruin, destruction, and terrorism,” she wrote. “Full solidarity and support with the great, free Sudan.”
Karman, a leading human rights advocate and the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has repeatedly condemned the UAE’s regional policies, accusing it of financing wars, undermining democratic transitions, and fueling instability across the Middle East and Africa.
Her latest remarks come amid escalating tensions between Khartoum and Abu Dhabi, following credible reports that the United Arab Emirates has been backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—an armed terrorist group accused of committing horrific massacres against civilians in El Fasher, western Sudan.
